Sadly, when your interests involve firearms or ordnance or virtually anything that might conceivably cause harm if improperly used, there are those thin lipped guardians of everyones safety who look on, with stern disapproval. We will comment and bring to your attention political issues if they are relevant to our collective interests. That said, a case of critical importance to gun owners, and to anyone who values our Bill of Rights, will shortly be before the Supreme Court. The case is McDonald v. Chicago and verbal arguments are scheduled to begin in March. The question is fairly straightforward: can a local government curtail your rights as guaranteed by the Constitution? The answer is "Perhaps"; the final answer must await the SCOTUS decision:

Through a series of legal decisions handed down over the past century, the Supreme Court has gradually held that most of the protections in the Bill of Rights apply to the states via the 14th Amendment, which declares, “No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” The Second Amendment, however, has been glaringly absent from this process, leaving state and local governments free to systematically violate gun rights.
